![]() FINN decided to take a trip to Georgia to celebrate his first birthday. On November 11, 2015 our little Finn turned one year old. He hasn't grown much in the past year because he is still just five and a half pounds. Finn stayed on a ranch on an old plantation just outside Augusta, Georgia. He said hello to the first horses he had ever seen. He also met some colourful chickens who just happened to be running around the farmyard. ![]() Finn didn't want to get too close to this guy because he was the biggest dog Finn had met so far. So Finn peeked through the fence and kept his distance until he got to know the big guy. I had to explain to him that this was not a big dog but that this large, four-legged animal was a horse. Once Finn got familiar with his new companion he ran up to the edge of the fence each morning to say hello. ![]() Finn spent his mornings just hanging out on the couch watching cartoons and planning his day. One of his favourite events was helping to harvest and sort freshly picked peanuts. When Finn's trip to Georgia was over, he put on his hat to leave and took one last look at the yard and at the friends he had come to love. Finn had made friends with the chickens and the horses and he promised to come back and visit again next year if the horses would take him for a ride in the surrey with the fringe on top.

AuthorJean Horst is a mom and grammy living along the sandy shores of Lake Huron in the summer. The rest of the time, when I'm not travelling to get new ideas for children's books, I live in Waterloo, Ontario Canada. I love writing kids books. My reward is seeing the smiles on the faces of children. |
