What is your favourite part of the holiday - food, friends, travelling to relative or just hanging out with time to do the things you love? And no school for about 4 days. Yes!
Thanksgiving is the beginning of the holiday season in the US. It's time to start thinking about what you want for your holiday gifts and about what gifts you want to buy for your favourite people. Soon all the stores will be decorated with festive lights and shiny decorations. You'll be able to buy candy canes, shortbread cookies, gingerbread men and chocolates of every kind. Fireplaces will be snapping and crackling and your dog will be curled up on the rug. If you live in a snowy area you will soon be able to go skating or tobogganing or skiing. And what about re-watching your favourite movies for this time of year. Festive music will be booming on the radio and in the malls as the jolly old man rings his bell to collect donations for the poor. Get out the paper and get out the pencils and start making a list of all the things on your wish list. It will soon be Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever customary holiday your family celebrates around this season of the year. Get ready!

AuthorJean Horst is a mom and grammy living along the sandy shores of Lake Huron in the summer. The rest of the time, when I'm not travelling to get new ideas for children's books, I live in Waterloo, Ontario Canada. I love writing kids books. My reward is seeing the smiles on the faces of children. |
